Safety/Liability

Sending an employee or groups of employees to a clinic exposes employer to potential liability to both workers compensation and civil liability if they are in any accident on the way to or from the clinic.  Employees are also exposed to sick patients in most occupational medicine clinics.

Cost

Employee does not have to leave work site.  Employee continues to work until they are notified of their drug test. Employer does not have to pay for travel time to and from clinic and waiting time for the test.

Control

Employees sent offsite to a clinic has the opportunity to drink large amounts of water to dilute test results and potential access to test adulterants.
